Inlays, Onlays

Tooth inlays, onlays and overlays are indirect fillings because they need to be made in a dental laboratory not in a dental office. Tooth inlays and onlays are similar to tooth – colored fillings and two visits to the office are needed before being placed.

Indirect fillings are considered when a very little tooth surface is left and there is not enough tooth substance. Traditional tooth fillings are not  durable enough when there are large sized cavities or holes in back teeth  ( 6th, 7th ) – they are basic chewing center and endure both entire pressure and stress during chewing process.

Are inlays or onlays durable enough?

Inlays and onlays are more durable, biologically accepted and highly aesthetic and last much longer than traditional fillings-up.

They are precisely constructed and the same color as the other tooth.
